Initial thoughts:
This project is a prime example of the new and recently becoming popular field of electromechanics which combines mechanical engineering and electronics as nowadays every little machine has some sort of electronic concept behind it. for instance taking a very simple example of the breaks in a car which has had the same basic design since its invention but due to advances in electromechanics ABS (Anti Lock braking System) has been introduced which uses sensors attached to the brakes to prevent skidding due to the motion by constantly applying and releasing the brake automatically, which has made driving while its raining or the surface has limited friction much safer than it used to be.

This is only one of the very useful examples of electromechanics. This project is also a very challenging combination of the both as the design of the body and programming of the line following buggy are equally important and it gives independence on the way the program will run and how it will be designed, being a test of knowledge in engineering, design and electronics.
